Marissa Sets Two Meet Records at Redondo NIKE Invitational
On Friday, March 13, Marissa placed first in the 3200 meter race at the Redondo NIKE Invitational with a new meet record time of 10:25.93. Her time was over 20 seconds faster than Kimberly Coscia’s previous record time of 10:46.72. The next morning, Marissa returned to Redondo and broke her own meet record of 4:55.98 in the 1600 meter race, with a time of 4:55.79.
The music was rockin’…. almost as much as the action. Ignited by a quarter of nation-leading marks under near-ideal conditions on Friday evening, the two-day Redondo/Nike Invitational sent the 2015 California season into overdrive on Weekend #3. Most impressive on the girls side partway through the meet is a pair of state-leading marks by Palisades High’s Marissa Williams in the 1600- and 3200-meter runs, the latter being a national-best mark for the season as well.
