Marissa Wins at Seaside XC Invitational

Marissa looked impressive in her 2014 cross country debut, clocking a 3-mile PR 15:59.8 to win the senior division at the Seaside XC Invitational. Her time was also a senior course record and the second-fastest time in meet history.

Great Oak (CA) junior Destiny Collins started her 2014 cross country season on fire. She blazed a 15:58 3 mile in the junior race at the Seaside Invitational on Friday afternoon in Ventura, California! Ranked #14 in the United States by MileSplit, Collins broke the old course record by a whopping 37 seconds.

Her course record nearly went down within the next hour as Marissa Williams, a senior at Palisades Charter (CA), got her chance to time trial the course at San Buenaventura State Beach Park in the senior girls race. The US #21 ranked Williams bolted out a swift time herself like Collins in her 15:59 victory in the senior race. It will be exciting to see a race in which Collins and Williams can actually race head to head later this season. Read more
