Marissa Races into History at City Section Track Championships

On Wednesday, May 28, Marissa became the first girl to win three races at the Los Angeles City Section Track Championships.  She also became the first girl to sweep the distance triple crown. Marissa won the 800 meters with a PR of 2:15.75, the 1600 meters  in 4:57.88, and the 3200 meters in 10:49.82. The victories also made Marissa the first 3-time LACS champion in both the 1600 and 3200 meter races.

Asked to do something no City Section female athlete has accomplished in track and field races— win City titles in the 800, 1,600 and 3,200 meters — junior Marissa Williams of Palisades agreed to give it a try Wednesday night at the City Section championships at Birmingham High. Read more
